I’ve participated in many flex leagues over the years, and while I loved the flexibility, competition, and opportunity to meet other players, the technology was often frustratingly outdated and difficult to use.

Players struggled to schedule matches, report scores, follow standings, and understand what was happening in their league. League managers were forced to piece everything together using spreadsheets, text messages, emails, and software that felt like it had been built in another decade.

But the problems went beyond inconvenient technology.

League divisions often weren’t connected to DUPR ratings, which made it far too easy for players and teams to enter lower divisions than their actual skill level. The result was sandbagging, lopsided matches, and a frustrating experience for everyone involved.

That isn’t fun for newer players who are trying to learn and improve, and it doesn’t challenge experienced players to get better. It also doesn’t promote the sport well. Competitive pickleball should create meaningful games between players of similar abilities, not predictable blowouts decided before anyone steps onto the court.

I kept thinking, there has to be a better way.

So I decided to build it.

FlexLeague+ was created to make flexible leagues easier, fairer, and more competitive. Players can schedule their own matches, submit results, follow standings, and compete around their availability. League managers get the tools they need to organize and run a professional league without being buried in administration.

DUPR-connected divisions help place players where they belong, creating better competition, more meaningful matches, and a better experience for both experienced and developing players.

But the bigger idea was this: people shouldn’t have to wait for someone else to bring a league to their community.
